There are two facets of the worldwide literary scene. There is one made up of the scholars, the elitists, the over-educated literary crowd and then there is everyone else. Many of us don't aspire to reach that higher echelon of writers, many of us don't want to write like Henry James, Robertson Davies or Dickens, many of us want to do this *thing* on our terms. I guess that is why there is such a burgeoning underground poetry / spoken word scene.

Why this web presence? Why not. If there is a scene, why not spread the word? Words are meant to be disseminated, words are meant to be heard aren't they? So why not use all the mediums that are at our disposal?

So that is why we are here, to spread the *words* and to talk about our scene. Want to contribute? Want to complain? We are just an email away.
